What is the retro-engineering lab in Shibari?
The retro-engineering Lab is a unique format offered in Paris, within the École des Cordes.
The principle is simple:
- The students submit a challenge figure in advance.
- During the workshop, we break it down together, step by step.
- We analyze its lines of tension, its supports, its security and its artistic intentions.
- Finally, we reconstruct the figure to produce a clear, fluid, and reproducible version. It is a space for collective exploration, where each participant benefits from the experience of Alex (a certified Naka Ryu teacher currently undergoing certification in 2026), while actively contributing to research and experimentation.

It is recommended to come with a partner to fully enjoy the workshop.
