After several years of attending BDSM and fetish parties, where we met the first French “riggers”, who enabled Kinbaku (shibari, bondage) to develop, and seeing the importance this art was taking in the BDSM and sensual sphere of sexuality, we thought it would be wise one day to be able to regulate this practice in order to provide rope enthusiasts with the knowledge and safety to practice in the best possible conditions.
We spent several years searching for the most suitable “format” for what we wanted to implement and convey.
There were already many demonstration evenings, where riggers came to showcase their art at bdsm events, or other evenings almost entirely dedicated to Kinbaku, but always in “demonstration” mode.
At the end of 2010, during a meeting with a French rigger, we had the idea of giving a "first rope course" at the Goûters Du Divin Marquis. In March 2011, the first course took place on a Friday afternoon, and the turnout was so high that we quickly decided to outsource this course and create a regular event under the name Ecole Des Cordes (School of Ropes).
An initial trio of riggers will supervise the courses from March 2011 to June 2012.
At the end of the 2012 season, a divergence of philosophy and motivation forced us to part ways with this first team of riggers.
Soon, Philippe de Beaumond, Docvale and Tyka Win will join us to continue this adventure, sharing the same spirit and taking the same view on what we want to convey during these learning sessions.
The year 2012/2013 saw the Ecole Des Cordes, under the impetus of all the staff, develop, become sustainable, and structure itself: The launch of a website, the creation of a logo and visual for the Ecole Des Cordes by Laure Desplantes, the regular sessions, and a future summer course, which will be a first in France.
The 2013/2014 academic year will see an increase in the frequency of classes.
In July 2013, we organised the first 48-hour Kinbaku training course, a great success which we will repeat in July 2014.
In November 2013, we organised the first edition of the “PARIS ROPE RENDEZ VOUS” a night of kinbaku with 4 Exceptional Shows of international level with: Docvale and Tyka, PhilipAnn and Yulia Vasileva, Riccardo Wildties and Morgana Fata and for the first time in France Wykd Dave and Clover Brook.
In January 2014, we organised an exceptional 9-hour workshop with Satomi Zpira.
In February 2014, the paths of EDC and PhilipAnn diverged…
Riccardo Wildties is becoming increasingly involved in EDC.
A second summer internship, which was a real success, took place in July 2014, under the watchful eye of the talented Pierre Estable.
From the start of the 2014 academic year, Riccardo Wildties and the Edc decided to work together in the long term, in order to establish a Kinbaku school worthy of the name in Paris. We restructured the courses and the schedules, creating 4 different working groups to provide each group with real homogeneity. The courses now run over a time range, from 10 a.m. for the Initiation group led by Tyka, to 8 p.m. for the Mastery group led by Riccardo Wildties… The “Apprenticeship” group is led by Docvale from Ropesession, and the “Advanced” group is led alternately by Docvale and Riccardo Wildties.
For spring 2015, several prestigious international guests will be guests of the EDC, with workshops and jam sessions on the agenda…
EDC continues to grow, step by step; it will celebrate its 4th anniversary in March 2015
Finally, the EDC website will be improved, with an expanded Videos section…
And there you have it, another season has passed, superb sessions every month, more and more of you are following our courses, we sincerely thank you.
In July 2015, EDC embarked on a new direction. Docvale and Tyka left the EDC staff to pursue their own paths, continuing their exploration of ropes elsewhere, further afield, higher still… We thank them for these three years together; they will always be our pride, since, let's not forget, they are graduates of the School of Ropes…
After careful consideration, L'Ecole Des Cordes has decided to relocate, in full agreement with Pascal, the owner of Cris et Chuchotements, with the sole aim of offering our participants a larger space, better suited to rope practice…
In July 2015, it was done, the location was found and it's superb, you can admire it on the blog, the 2015/2016 season of the Ecole Des Cordes will take place there…:))
A new team will soon be joining the staff of the Ecole Des Cordes, in order to continue to guide you, train you, and pass on their knowledge…
Our philosophy remains unchanged…transmission, learning, seriousness, safety, vigilance…
Starting at the end of August 2015, classes and sessions at the Ecole Des Cordes will resume. Each month, we will have the pleasure of welcoming a renowned European or international figure to lead part of the courses…
See you soon for the next part…
Philippe and the EDC staff.
