Private Shibari Session: FAQ

Some answers to questions you may have in preparation for your private shibari session

Prepare, get informed

  • What happens on the day?
Upon your arrival, we'll take some time to get to know each other and provide a safety briefing, outlining the parameters of the private session and providing everyone with the necessary information. The session lasts approximately one hour (unless otherwise requested).
  • What are we going to do?
In the email discussion, I'll send you a questionnaire detailing all the practices I offer. This will allow you to reflect on your desires, your limits, and the experiences you'd like to explore. You'll complete it at your leisure at home, and we'll go over it point by point together on the day.
  • And if I change my mind or want to stop?
Just say so. We define a safeword (an absolute stop word, for example, STOP ) before the private shibari session, in addition to having clearly defined its content. However, I am here to listen; just let me know if there's a rope that's bothering you, if you've changed your mind, or if you experience any disturbing sensations.

The risks, the pain

  • Does it hurt?
Shibari is not intended to inflict pain. However, the sensation is physically demanding. Breathing helps a lot, as does the trust you place in me.
  • What are the physical risks?
Kinbaku practice is not without risk. The body is full of veins, nerves, tendons, ligaments, muscles…
Blood compression: This manifests as tingling and a general feeling of numbness in the limb. If non-slip knots are used (no tourniquet on the limb), it is not very dangerous.
Radial nerve compression : Injury to this nerve manifests as a painless sensation on the top of the thumb-index finger pinch; a sort of tingling, like a very slight electric current. This sensation must be reported IMMEDIATELY to the person tying the knot, as there is a real risk. When the radial nerve is pinched, more or less temporary paralysis can follow (from a few minutes to weeks).
Note: To date, I have no incidents to report because I have always practiced with caution. However, I experienced this incident when I started practicing in 2016, so I can speak about it clearly and precisely.
  • What are the other risks?
The practice of shibari induces an altered state of consciousness due to the release of endorphins . At this point, the person being tied is no longer in a clear state of mind; they become more vulnerable, more relaxed, and less capable of intellectual reflection or decision-making. Hence the questionnaire about permitted practices and limits, along with a safe word, before the private shibari session.

Other information

  • Can I bring someone with me?
Come with whomever you like. Generally, it's a moment best enjoyed alone, in peace and quiet. Partners are welcome as long as they respect the boundaries we've established together and don't interfere during the private shibari session, which should remain a moment for the person being tied (a supportive environment, physical and emotional safety are essential).
  • What should I wear?
Avoid underwired clothing (bras, corsets, etc.). Boxer shorts for men, light outfits, blouses, and skirts are all pieces that will perfectly flatter Mademoiselle in the ropes and offer interesting play possibilities, as do dresses or kimonos. Jewelry must be removed. Strict hygiene is expected.
  • Why does the session take place at Alex DirtyVonP's place?
Generally, I receive clients at my home, which is specially equipped for Shibari practice. It's important to me to work in conditions I control, with quality equipment, and to ensure you can enjoy this time without having to deal with unexpected calls or visits; without having to manage your daily life in between.

If you have any further questions, please contact me by email, I will be happy to answer them.
